Florida State legend Jameis Winston was on hand for Jordan Travis’ horrific leg injury on Saturday, which saw the Seminole quarterback taken away in an ambulance.
Travis, leading a Florida State team seeking to reach the College Football Playoff for the first time since Winston led the Seminoles to the 2015 Rose Bowl, has had a sensational season. Before the Week 12 game against North Alabama, he had completed 64.1% of his passes for 2,734 yards, 20 touchdowns and two interceptions.

What did Jameis Winston say about Jordan Travis’ injury?
When Winston was interviewed on the Florida State sideline following Travis’ injury, he took the time to praise Travis and wish him well.
“I want to continue to encourage him to be resilient and persevere,” Winston said on the sidelines. “I think he’s the epitome of that with his journey in his college football career. He had one of the best years of any college football player. And I’m grateful to rock his jersey. Given the importance of his number. “We won the championship in 2013 and he’s one of the best quarterbacks that year, man.”
Winston continued:
“I just want to keep lifting him up. And just say: ‘Keep your head up, stand firm, be strong and courageous. As if the Lord had a plan for you that no one, no one, could ever imagine. So just stay resilient.’ .’ And that’s what he did. So I know I just want to pray for him and his family for his family and their well-being – he’ll be fine. I know he will make it.”
Winston, of course, was referring to the FSU team that won the last BCS National Championship in the 2013-14 season, so Travis’ No. 13 took on added meaning. Winston was at the helm of that team and also won the 2013 Heisman Trophy.
Travis, a transfer from Louisville, is in his sixth season and final year at Florida State.
