HAMILTON – Quebecer Marc-Antoine Dequoy had trouble containing his emotions Sunday night after the Montreal Alouettes’ triumph in the Gray Cup final.
“The Gray Cup is back in Quebec,” he told the Journal, singing during the locker room celebrations. I’m so happy!”

He smoked a cigar with his teammate Alexandre Gagné and still apologized for his emotional remarks on television in a post-game interview.
“I lost my temper during a TV interview a little earlier,” he admitted. I’m sorry, but we’re still bringing the trophy back to Quebec.”

“They never believed in us,” Dequoy said hotly on the RDS microphone, his voice hoarse with tears of joy. If you look everywhere, it’s written in English. I turned on the TSN guide and it was Toronto versus Winnipeg.
The English-language Gray Cup logo could actually be seen on the posters in the stadium in Hamilton. The TV Guide also predicted a matchup between the Toronto Argonauts and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Sunday, very late in the week. The information was apparently scheduled before the result of the Eastern final.
The victory speech is just as epic as the Alouettes’ victory in this monolingual English Gray Cup.

“They never believed in us, but you know what, keep your English because we are going to win this trophy and bring it back to Montreal,” Dequoy added. We’re going to bring it back to Quebec because we’re fucking champions!”
The resilience of the Alouettes
Gagné, nicknamed “Captain Quebec,” spoke of the team’s resilience.
“It’s the resilience of this team, we’ve had ups and downs all season. Even tonight (Sunday) we couldn’t get into the end zone before halftime, and that’s crucial in a game. We talked together, corrected the situation and came back with momentum. It’s a reflection of our season.”
