Police did not name the British comedian but confirmed that a man in his 40s was questioned at a London police station earlier this week after The Times first reported the news.
“A man in his 40s attended a police station in south London on Thursday 16 November 2023,” a spokesman said. “He was questioned by investigators in connection with three non-recent sexual offenses. The investigation is ongoing. »
In September, police announced they would investigate allegations of “non-recent” sexual offenses against Russell Brand and urged anyone who felt they were a victim to come forward. The statement came following an investigation by the Sunday Times and Channel 4’s Dispatches earlier this month, in which four women accused Russell Brand of sexual assaults that allegedly took place between 2006 and 2013.
The 48-year-old comedian has vigorously denied allegations of rape and sexual assault made against him in the investigation. In a video posted before the allegations were made public, Russell Brand claimed his relationships have “absolutely always been consensual.”
The BBC is also investigating five complaints about the star’s alleged behavior while working at the broadcaster.
