In the “Sol del Perú” room in the Miraflores Palace, the seat of the government, the President welcomed the diplomats, accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, and the Vice Ministers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Asia, the Middle East and Oceania, Tatiana Mops, and for Africa, Yuri Pimentel.
With the Asian nation, the authorities of both countries decided to advance a solid cooperation agenda based on the principles of respect, solidarity and complementarity, official sources reported.
Caracas and New Delhi established diplomatic relations in 1959 and since then both states have maintained “solid relations of friendship and cooperation” in trade as well as in areas such as energy, agronomy, health, culture and economics.
Relations with the North African country began 52 years ago and deepened with the arrival of commander Hugo Chávez (1954-2013).
The Bolivarian Republic and Algeria maintain close cooperation in various areas of common interest, which is reflected in the Joint Commission between the two States.
Last year, both governments decided to expand their relations by adopting a mutually beneficial cooperation card in view of President Nicolás Maduro’s trip to Eurasia, which also took him to the Algerian capital.
