Joe Biden opened an official account on Monday on the social network Threads, a direct competitor to Elon Musk’s X platform (formerly Twitter), with which the White House has stormy relations.

The American President, his wife Jill Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, her husband Doug Emhoff and the White House are now present on Mark Zuckerberg’s social network (Meta/Facebook).
“You will find me on a new platform today, but my message has not changed,” the American president wrote in his first publication.
“I don’t see a dark, gloomy, divided future for America. “I see an America that is on the verge of a breakthrough,” continued the Democrat, who turns 81 on Monday.
The American president, candidate for a second term, pleads for optimism in the face of speeches by his great Republican rival Donald Trump about the “decline” of the United States.
He also runs campaigns on his Truth Social network.
“Threads are another way to communicate with Americans,” commented a White House official, assuring that this launch “has been in the works for several weeks.”

In a particularly vicious statement on Friday, the White House accused Elon Musk of having “patheticly promoted anti-Semitic and racist hatred” in one of his publications on his social network X.
Joe Biden himself estimated just over a year ago that it would be “worth it” to investigate the billionaire’s ties to foreign governments.
The American president, who has an aggressive policy in support of electric vehicles, readily praises the efforts of major historical manufacturers, but avoids mentioning Tesla, another Elon Musk company, to the great dismay of the latter.
Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg are used to arguing on social networks, and the former even offered to face the latter in a public naked fight.
This project, mentioned a few months ago, has not come to fruition.
Their hostility appears to have increased in early July with the launch of Threads, X’s direct competitor.
