Arrested for a crime she didn’t commit, Aline (Barbara Reis) manages to turn things around in Terra e Paixão. The protagonist will move the judge in charge of her case by revealing everything she went through in the hands of Antônio (Tony Ramos). She will highlight the fear she feels for her children, the very thing that drew her to the Farmer’s Trap in Globo’s Nine O’Clock soap opera.
The teacher will even take an informal approach to his custody hearing and ask the judge about his relationship with his own children. The girl’s lawyer, Rodrigo (Maicon Rodrigues), will be tense when he sees her interrupting the judge.
She will begin her argument by asking whether the man has children. He’ll agree, and she’ll be blunt: “So could you listen to what a mother who’s been wrongly accused has to say?”
Astonished by the wildness of the land producer, the judge opens the room: “Actually, it is not usual for the defendant to speak. But in this case I will make an exception. You can speak, but please hold back your tears and emotions generally do not help at all,” he will explain in scenes scheduled to be broadcast this Wednesday (22).
Barbara Reis’ character won’t waste any time. She will affirm that she did not shoot Antônio and will say that her family has sworn him to death:
Recently I went to the police and filed a complaint against Antônio La Selva, but he still took my boy and brought him to his house without questioning me. Now tell me, Your Excellency, how far would you go to defend the lives of your children and grandchildren?
The accountant will also say that everyone is afraid of the farmer’s thugs, since the atrocities committed by the gang are famous in Nova Primavera, the fictional town where the action takes place. “You’re describing a monster, isn’t that right?” the judge interrupts suspiciously. She will not hesitate to agree with the statement.
Caio’s girlfriend (Cauã Reymond) will also say that his fatherinlaw “does not admit disagreement” and that he “acts in secret” to destroy his enemies. Finally, he will ask for a chance for justice to be served. She will manage to persuade the judge and will be released.
Terra e Paixão was written by Walcyr Carrasco and Thelma Guedes. The story takes place in the fictional town of Nova Primavera in Mato Grosso do Sul. The story will remain on air until January 19 next year and will be replaced by the remake of Renascer (1993).
