Al Mayadeen‘s correspondent Farah Omar and cameraman Rabih Me’mari were murdered today in an Israeli airstrike on their base in Tayr Harfa, southern Lebanon.

An Israeli warplane fired two missiles at the location of Farah and Rabih.

Farah and Rabih had just finished a live broadcast at 10 a.m. reporting on the latest Israeli bombardment in southern Lebanon. She and her colleagues were targeted shortly after they completed their reporting and stopped broadcasting.

“Israel” has not been averse to targeting journalists and has done so several times in the past month, both in the Gaza Strip and in southern Lebanon.

Shortly after the start of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood and as Israeli shelling of southern Lebanon increased, “Israel” bombed journalists covering events in the south, killing Portal journalist Issam Abdallah, injuring two other Portal journalists and an Al -Jazeera team.

On November 13, “Israel” again launched a strike against media teams, including Al Mayadeens, in the Lebanese town of Yaroun, near the border. Fortunately, the attack did not result in any injuries.

Al Mayadeen banned in occupied Palestine

The deliberate killing of our beloved colleagues Farah and Rabih comes after Israel’s War Cabinet approved regulations on November 13 that would allow the occupying government to ban and shut down Al Mayadeen Media Network.

According to the decision Al Mayadeen is intended to endanger Israel’s “national security.”

The Chairman of the Board of Directors commented on this topic Al Mayadeen Media NetworkGhassan Ben Jeddou confirmed in an interview with Al-Nour Radio that “Israel” made the decision to ban Al Mayadeen “It wasn’t a technical decision. It wasn’t even a political decision. In fact, it was a military decision related to Israel’s national security.”

“For the first time in history, the War Cabinet, tasked by the United States with making the most important decisions during this war, met to discuss the Al-Mayadeen network as an issue on its agenda,” he said.
