The Blue Jackets are sending a big message to Patrik

Apparently, Columbus Blue Jackets forward Patrik Laine didn’t like being left out by head coach Pascal Vincent during last Sunday’s clash.

“In my entire career it is probably the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me,” the Finn said on Tuesday, his comments reported by The Athletic.

“I am not happy with this situation. The organization knows it. That’s life. Now I have to move on.”

This was the first time Laine had spoken about Vincent’s treatment of her. The Blue Jackets pilot, in turn, indicated that he hoped the punishment would affect the sharpshooter, who has only collected three points, including two goals, in nine games so far in 2023-2024.

“I know what he can do on the ice,” the Quebec coach said. I know his potential. I know he is not happy with my decision, but I think Patrik needs to take a deep breath, get back to work, get his shot back and regain his confidence so we can get back to the player we know.”

This year Laine is playing his fourth season with the Columbus club. He was drafted by the Winnipeg Jets with the second overall pick in the 2016 auction. He was traded to the Blue Jackets in January 2021, but was never able to perform as well with that team as he did with Manitoba Training earlier in his career.
