Coleen Rooney admits she didn’t realize husband Wayne was ‘really struggling’ after her miscarriage: ‘Men are often forgotten’

Coleen Rooney has admitted she was unaware her husband Wayne was “really struggling” after a miscarriage.

The 37-year-old WAG admitted she felt men could be “forgotten” when losing a child and only realized his pain when he told her it had been “hard for him too”.

Coleen and Wayne share four sons – Kai, 14, Klay, 10, Kit, seven, and Cass, five.

The first of Coleen’s two miscarriages occurred just months after she and Wayne married in a 14th-century abbey in Santa Margherita on the Italian Riviera.

Coleen, who also opened up about her miscarriages in her new book My Account, said Wayne had always wanted a child and had struggled after they lost the baby.

Speaking on the Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast, she said: “Wayne really struggled with this.” I feel like I have to say: “It’s not just about the women, we have to look after the men too. “I feel like they are being forgotten.

“He once said, ‘I know it’s hard for you, but it’s hard for me too.’ It was only when he said that to me that I realized, ‘You’re right, it’s true.’ He wanted the baby just as much, if not more, than me.”

Coleen admitted she was a lot more “nervous” about becoming pregnant again with her eldest son Kai after a miscarriage.

She continued: “Then I was a lot more nervous.” [in the first pregnancy] You know, the joy of pregnancy overcame the fears, but I didn’t really think about the health side.

“You know, of course I did everything by the book and was healthy, but of course I didn’t focus so much on the baby’s health. The second time it was on my mind constantly.

“And I’ve had myself checked and scanned more regularly than I ever should have. Record number of scans, I think, and it shouldn’t be like that, you know, it’s just kept me healthy and happy.”

Coleen later suffered a second devastating miscarriage after giving birth to her two eldest sons, Kai and Klay.

She wrote about her second miscarriage in her book My Account: “It’s devastating when something like this happens; Of course it is. However, this time I had slightly different feelings about it.

The opposition resisted[Kai] was just amazed at the whole pregnancy process and asked, “Can I be there when you have the baby?”

“He wasn’t in the room when I gave birth because it’s a beautiful moment, but not very nice to look at. “So he was in the waiting room next door.”

She added: “I had Cass and then [Kai] was brought into the room and we said, “Would you like to cut the cord?” and he did it with no problem. I have it on video and I’m watching it again, it’s just a beautiful moment.”
