(CNN Spanish) –– Weekend rains in the Dominican Republic caused the death of at least 25 people, affected 7,412 houses and displaced 37,060 people from their homes, according to the latest report from the Emergency Operations Center (COE). .
The report published this Tuesday also indicates that more than 2.3 million users do not have drinking water.
Even though the rains have stopped, flash floods continue to wreak havoc in the country.
Heavy rains in the Dominican Republic claim 24 lives
After the Ozama River flooded, at least 67 houses were flooded in the El Tamarindo neighborhood in Santo Domingo Este, Mayor Manuel Jiménez reported.
The mayor told local media that they were preparing to clean storm drains and bring help to affected families. People with completely flooded houses in El Tamarindo are with friends and family, Jiménez explained.

According to the mayor’s office, other sectors of Santo Domingo Este such as La Javilla, Perla Antillana Urbanization, Cancino Adentro and Villa Liberación were also affected by the rains.
