As the home stretch of Season 24 approaches, Niall Horan is facing a storm of “Heartbreak Weather” on “The Voice.”

Horan was tasked with trimming his team from six singers in the first round of the playoffs on Tuesday night. During the Playoffs round, each contestant takes the stage for a solo performance that will determine whether they advance to the top 12 live shows.

One singer from Team Niall who was gunning for the win was Julia Roome. The teenage singer was previously eliminated in the Knockout Round, but was brought back by Horan using his Super Save, a new feature that allows any coach to add an eliminated candidate to their team for the playoffs.

Known for her powerful style, Roome impressed coaches with her soulful performance of the Cyndi Lauper ballad “True Colors” and earned praise from John Legend for her dynamic vocal performance.

“You also showed that power in your voice, but there were also some moments that were more tender,” Legend said. “The fact that you can do all this with that much strength at the age of 13 is pretty phenomenal.”

While Horan was happy to have Roome back in the competition, the Irish pop singer lamented that her strong performance would make selecting finalists for Team Niall “extremely difficult.”

“I’m not feeling well at the moment,” Horan said afterwards. “I could faint. Send help.”

Here’s what else happened in Tuesday’s episode.

Which singers from Team Niall made it into the top 12?

After a series of captivating performances, singers Roome, Nini Iris, Huntley, Claudia B., Mara Justine and Alexa Wildish from Team Niall took to the stage to learn their “Voice” fate.

The first singer to advance to the next round of the competition was rocker Huntley, who shined with his fiery cover of David Kushner’s “Daylight.” “Huntley has such an individual tone to his voice,” Horan said. “There aren’t many voices like his, and there is a real place for him in our industry.”

Next up was soul rock singer Iris. The Georgian singer blew Horan away with her confident rendition of “River” by Bishop Briggs. “Nini is the most ready,” Horan said. “She knows exactly who she is. She could win the whole thing.”

Although Horan had clear top candidates on his team, he balked at the pressure of having to choose a final singer for his team.

“It’s just crazy that I have to make this decision,” Horan said. “I just don’t know how to do it.”

In the end, Horan chose soul-pop expert Justine, who mesmerized the coaches with her electrifying cover of Florence and the Machine’s “You’ve Got the Love.” “Mara is perfect for the live shows because of the energy she brings,” Horan said.

“As far as the live shows go, I think we all know that Team Niall is the team to beat. “The three in the future are such strong and also completely different singers,” Horan said. “I won season 23 and I have a good feeling that the winner of season 24 is on team Niall.”
