Parents often have a lot to say about their teenagers, and Matthew Poitras doesn’t necessarily have a free pass, even though he now plays in the National Hockey League.
The Boston Bruins striker found his place at the big club at the age of 19 and the Ontario native appears to need a few more months of adjustment when it comes to his personal life. His father Phil also had fun throwing a few friendly darts at his son.
“Interesting fact about Matt: Even after breaking into the Bruins lineup, he still seems to depend on my wife and me. The car he has is ours. He tends not to pay the insurance. To be honest, I’m even surprised he pays for gas. That describes him well,” Mr. Poitras said, smiling, in a video shared by the Bruins’ X account.
Phil Poitras took part in his first father’s trip with the Boston team. They faced the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday night in Florida.

The young center player didn’t put his name on the top scorer list, but got off to a good start to the season with four goals and as many assists in 17 games.
