While several Quebecers highlighted Marc-Antoine Dequoy’s emotional speech on behalf of French speakers, the Carabins of the University of Montreal made a rather comical gesture to commemorate his remarks.
The star marauder’s former organization has changed the profile of its ex-player on its website. His syllabus now says ‘PhD in post-match interview’, while the place where his position should be mentioned now says ‘future Prime Minister’.

The defensive back garnered a lot of attention on social media for his interview following the Montreal Alouettes’ capture of the Gray Cup on Sunday night.
“If you look everywhere, it’s written in English,” lamented the Quebecer in an interview with RDS. You put in the TSN guide and it said Toronto vs. Winnipeg. You came here and only English is spoken. They never believed in us. You know what, man? Keep your English!”
As a reminder, the Canadian Football League (CFL) initially only displayed signs and logos in English for the event. When the fact came to light a few days before the meeting, the league rushed to add it in French on Saturday.
The Sparrows defeated the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 28-24 in the final game of the 2023 CFL season.
