He bought the £15 million property hoping to make it the perfect family home, but never moved in.

But now the Mail can reveal that Simon Cowell has decided to finally live in his Wimbledon mansion after selling his home in Holland Park, west London.

The 64-year-old music mogul has decided to make the Georgian property his home for his fiancée Lauren Silverman and their nine-year-old son Eric.

Simon bought the six-bedroom house five years ago and spent £1 million renovating it.

Friends say he was desperate to live a “quieter life” at almost 60, but his refusal to move into the house in Wimbledon, south-west London, sparked much mystery.

But it was his Britain’s Got Talent co-star Ant McPartlin who announced his move, saying that Simon was attending the I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! He hosts in the nearby house and shares with his wife Anne-Marie Corbett.

On Instagram, Ant said: “Simon Cowell has just moved in around the corner from me.” He pops in for tea and biscuits. “Well, he doesn’t eat the cookies – I do.”

His best pal and presenting partner Declan Donnelly then asked why and Ant said: “Well I mean he doesn’t eat. Have you seen how tall he is lately?”

In August, Simony sold his Holland Park home for £15 million. There he became the victim of a series of burglaries that left him in “constant fear” for his family’s safety.

The X Factor judge had lived in the six-bedroom property for 16 years and decided to keep it as his main residence – despite buying the Wimbledon mansion.

Despite having never lived in the new property before, he decided to put it on the market in 2021 for £18 million, despite having spent £1 million “adapting it to his family’s needs”.

Before that, however, Simon is said to have dismantled the house from around 1900 back into brick construction and removed walls, ceilings and floors.

New suites are said to have been created in the six bathrooms, while there is a new kitchen in addition to five reception rooms on the ground floor of the three-story house.

Other features include a gym, a large games room and a double garage, while plans have been approved for a swimming pool on the half-acre landscaped property.

In August it was reported that Simon had decided to leave London to start a new life in the country with Lauren, 46, and Eric, as well as their son Adam, 18, from a previous marriage.

It is understood that this house will be more of a weekend home for the family.

Simon also owns an £18.3million home in Los Angeles, which he bought in 2017. It has six bedrooms and seven bathrooms and sits on 1.63 acres overlooking the ocean.

Outside, the property features a plunge pool and hot tub, a BBQ area and a koi pond with floor-to-ceiling glass windows overlooking the space.

The property also has a tennis court, although this is reportedly used as overflow parking.
