Shortly before the end of the 30th anniversary Jack’s strange world has become a Christmas and Halloween classic. In a scenario where Hollywood is increasingly interested in remakes and sequels to films that defined childhood, Tim Burton explains why he doesn’t want to know anything about it not with the story of Jack Skellington.
“The film is very important to me. I’ve done sequels, reshoots and all that, right? But I don’t want that to happen with this film,” he confessed to Empire magazine. “It’s cool that people might be interested, but I’m not. “I feel like this old man with a small piece of land that he doesn’t want to sell to the big companies that want the land,” he compared.
The rumor that Disney would be interested in a liveaction sequel is an old one. However, there was never any confirmation or substantive details of the supposed project.
Released in 1993, The Nightmare Before Christmas is about Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King, who grows tired of Halloween and finally enters the gate to Christmas. When he returns to Halloween Town, he decides to kidnap Santa Claus and create his own Christmas. The film is directed by Henry Selick, with an original story by Burton.
