Teyana Taylor And Iman Shumpert are getting a divorce… she secretly had their marriage ended almost a year ago, claiming he was a jealous narcissist during their seven year marriage.
According to new legal documents obtained by TMZ, Teyana filed for divorce from the former NBA star back in January — more than eight months before they did announced a separation.
In the documents, Teyana details the breakdown of her marriage … and accuses Iman of being jealous of her fame and not feeling confident he’s good enough for her, even though he earned far more from basketball than she ever would have can dream music.
Teyana claims Iman would get annoyed if they attended public events together and photographers would ask him to step out of the frame.
She says that when Iman signed a $40 million contract with the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers in 2015, the same year he also received $8 million from the New York Knicks, he remained angered by, jealous of, her notoriety her acting career and unsure if she was her husband.
Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ … Teyana wanted to keep this a secret for as long as possible and initially decided to file with her initials. However, Iman’s recent filing in the divorce case included the full names, putting everything in the spotlight.
Teyana claims that it was at this point that Iman began sending her negative text messages containing condescending and manipulative language in response to her being in the spotlight. She claims he would argue with her for no reason, even on her birthday, and then apologize.
In documents Teyana filed in Georgia, she says she now feels that Iman “treated her cruelly and exhibited extremely narcissistic behavior throughout most of their marriage.”
She says she “deliberately started dimming the lights for her husband in an attempt to have a harmonious and peaceful marriage” while Iman became “more and more angry” about her fame.
Additionally, Teyana says she turned down recording opportunities and acting gigs because Iman “didn’t want her to work.” But she says when she stopped working after the birth of one of her children, Iman complained that she wasn’t making any money.
Teyana says she fought to keep her family together even though Iman was “extremely emotionally and mentally abusive to her.” She says she used her connections to get Iman gigs in Hollywood when his NBA career was coming to an end, but says he “unfortunately insisted on arguing” to the point where she The divorce process began in 2021.
She says they reconciled, but it was short-lived because Iman “remained in an uncertain state as his NBA career continued to decline.”
In the documents, Teyana says she was manipulated and controlled by Iman in 2022 and filed for divorce… only to ask her legal team to withdraw the request a day later.
Teyana says she finally pulled the trigger in January because she “couldn’t handle the emotional rollercoaster.”
She claims Iman was involved in several cheating scandals during their marriage, citing the following: his arrest for drunk driving and remembers the time in 2022 when he was arrested for possession of weed at an airport. Teyana also claims that Iman once crashed her Rolls Royce and fled the scene to avoid a second drunk driving arrest.
Teyana says she tried to stay by Iman’s side through thick and thin, but says he “responded with further cruelty and selfishness.” After secretly filing for divorce, Iman insisted they get back together, but then became careless and inconsistent and became embroiled in another cheating scandal, which she said was embarrassing and humiliating.
As we reported…Teyana announced their split in September, saying, “Let’s be clear: ‘Infidelity’ is not one of the reasons we left.” Now she says it was just being graceful with him.
Teyana says Iman left her family home in October and has not spent significant time with her two children since. She is seeking temporary and permanent primary custody as well as joint legal custody and child support.

Now she says her marriage is “irretrievably broken”… which seems painfully obvious given the many problems between them – at least in her eyes.
