Hilary Duff likes to stay in great shape all year round.
But it becomes a challenge for her during the holidays when the 36-year-old Lizzie McGuire actress has three children to care for at home.
“We’re so busy with school events, birthdays and other things.” “Our fall is really busy,” Hilary told Women’s Health this week.
“And we always have Thanksgiving and Christmas at our house,” added the 5-foot-10 star with a 26-inch waist.
The star told the website that she works out early in the morning to make sure she can do it.
“You feel like you’re spending the whole day eating and drinking, so it’s nice to put that behind you and just know that you’ve done it,” she explains.

“All the places I train at are open for a class on holiday mornings.”
Hilary’s top workout classes are the Tracy Anderson Method and Silver Springs, which offers Pilates in a trendy studio.
The star loves to “sweat a little more” and is into “detoxification.”
“There’s nothing like the path.” [that workout] “makes your skin feel,” Hilary said.
“You feel like you’ve gotten rid of what you needed to get rid of, and then your skin just feels so beautiful.” “I really like that feeling.”
She also keeps family time active.
When Hilary’s children – Luca (11), Banks (5) and Mae (2) – come home from school, they swim or jump on the trampoline.

The “Never Let You Go” singer asks husband Matthew Koma for some quality time together.
“I play tennis every Sunday. My husband and I have this together, which is really nice.
“About two years ago I said to him, ‘Here’s the deal: We need a sport so that we can still like each other even when the kids leave the house,'” she said.
“So now we’re skiing, which is obviously seasonal. And we play tennis together, which is really fun.” (The couple that sweats together, stays together!)
She prefers strength training.
“As a woman, it’s really important to lift weights.” It’s important for your bones. “It’s important that we constantly pay attention to our phones and our posture,” she says. “…I don’t talk like crazy heavyweights.” You know, I’m not a bodybuilder. But it’s nice to lift weights.” She also points out that strength training helps women’s bodies stay strong as they age.
Sometimes that means incorporating weights into your cardio workout (also known as rucking). “I did this 12-3-30 workout [on my treadmill]“But it really got easier for me,” she says. “So I started wearing a 12-pound weighted vest and it got heavy again. But I like it.’
