Actor and film director Rob Reiner has claimed that four gunmen were involved in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, insisting that the reason why the first bullet missed is key to his theory.
Kennedy was shot on November 22, 1963 as his open motorcade rolled through Dallas, Texas, and he was pronounced dead upon arrival at Parkland Memorial Hospital.
Official investigations revealed that he was murdered by lone gunman Lee Harvey Oswald from a sixth-floor window of the Texas School Book Depository.
But Reiner maintains that there were more people involved in Kennedy’s fatal shooting, whom he names in his 10-part podcast called “Who Killed JFK?” taken with journalist Soledad O’Brien.
He questioned reports that Oswald was solely responsible for the murder and believes the pair have finally solved the mystery.

Reiner developed a fascination with the Kennedy assassination since hearing the news in high school at age 16.
Some believe that a single bullet passed through Kennedy’s neck before striking Texas Governor John Connelly, who was sitting in the front seat of the car.
However, there were doubts about the legitimacy of the “single bullet theory.”
Dallas resident Abraham Zapruder captured the moment Kennedy was shot on 8mm silent color film, but it did not become widely available until March 1975.
“You watch the Zapruder film over and over again,” Reiner told the Sun Sentinel.
“And then when you look at it, it becomes really clear. There’s no way a bullet could go through Kennedy, then stand still for a while, waiting to hit Connelly.
“None of this makes any sense. And Connelly himself said until his death: “The bullet that hit Kennedy didn’t hit me.”
Reiner believes he has figured out exactly what happened in the shooting with the help of O’Brien and author Dick Russell.
“I’m very confident about the conspiracy part,” he said. “I am 100% convinced of that.” We can guess who exactly did what to the best of our knowledge based on all the information we have.
“We name the shooters.” We name the positions in which the shooters were. Some people say it was four, others say five, and I still struggle with that. But based on the forensics, we know there were four.”
However, he has yet to reveal the name of the shooters until the final episodes of the podcast, adding that more revelations are to come.
“We say for sure on the podcast that there was someone up on the sixth floor,” the actor added. “And there were people, there was someone firing from the sixth floor.
“I’m going to ask you this question: Why did the first shot miss?”

“That’s a key to our theory.” That’s all I’m going to tell you. But the first shot missed. It completely missed the motorcade.’
Reiner decided to start the podcast dealing with Kennedy’s assassination after he and his wife Michelle began listening to other podcasts.
“There were a lot of things that attracted us, and one of them was a podcast by Soledad O’Brien called ‘Murder on the Towpath,'” he said.
“So I started thinking, maybe a podcast is the best way to deal with this.”
“It’s something I’ve been following for 60 years, whenever something new comes along.”
“And what I wanted to do was find a way to put everything together in one place, because when new revelations come to light, people hear it, the press hears it and everyone goes, ‘Oh!’ But they don’t put it in the context of everything.
“It’s like a little puzzle piece that comes out, and unless you follow it closely, you don’t know what that puzzle looked like.”
So far, three episodes of the podcast have been released by iHeartPodcasts and they air every Wednesday.
Reiner has directed films such as “When Harry Met Sally,” “A Few Good Men” and “The Story of Us.”
