President Joe Biden’s family used their private Nantucket beach to celebrate Thanksgiving on Thursday, taking part in a family cold plunge and playing “Titanic” on the dock.

Baby Beau, Hunter Biden’s youngest son, played on the beach surrounded by his sisters and cousins Natalie and Hunter, the late Beau Biden’s children.
The president’s family began Thanksgiving Day at the $34 million waterfront estate by taking part in the Nantucket Turkey Plunge, an island tradition that raises funds for the children’s library.
The Biden family attended virtually, jumping into the water from their borrowed property instead of making a public appearance at Children’s Beach, where the annual gathering is held.

The president and first lady have remained at the site since their arrival on Tuesday, but went out briefly on Thursday to deliver pumpkin pie to the Nantucket Fire Department – a gesture they also made last year.
At the fire station, Biden said, “I’m keeping my fingers crossed” when asked whether three-year-old Avigail Idan would be among the U.S. citizens released by Hamas when the four-day ceasefire begins Friday morning.
“I’m not prepared to give an update until it’s finished,” he said of the Gaza hostage crisis more generally.
The president also remained silent when asked about Wednesday’s election of far-right Dutch politician Geert Wilders, who has been compared to former President Donald Trump.
“I’m focused on this election,” Biden replied, referring to his own re-election campaign, in which Trump was by far the leading candidate for the Republican nomination.
Biden was also asked if he had a message for U.S. citizens Evan Gershkovich, a Wall Street Journal reporter, and Paul Whelan, who are currently detained in Russia.
“We are not giving up,” Biden told reporters before climbing back into his black SUV that took the president and first lady back to the $34 million waterfront compound they are using for the long weekend.

They also attended the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and spoke with longtime broadcaster Al Roker.
“I think we need to remember how blessed we are to live in the greatest nation in the world,” the president said as he touted the country’s “extraordinary progress.”
Dr. Biden chimed in, saying, “I think it’s important that we all commit to an act of kindness today.”
“So call someone and wish them a happy Thanksgiving or do something nice,” the first lady offered.
Roker urged the president to specifically address this Thanksgiving because political tensions are high.

“This Thanksgiving, Al, we must come together. We may have different political views, but we have one view and that one view is that we are the most beautiful, greatest nation in the world. That’s what we should focus on, we should focus on dealing with our problems and being together and stopping the resentment,” Biden said. “We need to bring the nation together.” “We need to treat each other with a little civility.”
“And I think that’s the vast majority of the American people,” the president added.
Since 1975, the Bidens have spent almost every Thanksgiving on Nantucket.
The president and first lady arrived via the Air Force on a Tuesday evening, and several family members were spotted in the city on Wednesday, braving the rainy and windy weather to drink coffee, smoothies and give gifts.
Several members of the Biden clan pushed through the wind – gusts gusted up to 50 miles per hour – to run along the cobblestone streets of downtown, as seen in exclusive images obtained by .
Hunter Biden posed for a photo with a group of teenagers asking for one and was seen purchasing a pair of slippers at CraftMasters of Nantucket.
It was unclear whether they were for him or a gift for his father — the president has shopped at CraftMasters on previous Nantucket trips.

Hunter also enjoyed smoothies with Maisy, his daughter from his first marriage, and Little Hunt, the son of the late Beau Biden.
Meanwhile, Naomi Biden, along with her cousin Natalie and husband Peter Neal, began their Thanksgiving vacation with a workout and a coffee run.
The trio was seen leaving the Hub Coffee Shop, wearing gym clothes and appearing sweaty.
The store offers New York-style bagels and smoothies, as well as a wide selection of specialty coffees.
Ashley Biden, the president’s daughter, was seen taking a selfie outside Hub with her niece Natalie and Peter Neal later Thursday afternoon.
On Friday, the family usually goes into town for lunch and shopping and stays to light the annual Christmas tree.
President Biden usually goes to church on Saturday.
The president and first lady are expected to return to Washington, DC on Sunday
