Drag queen Mona from Grenoble comes with her wigs and her irreverent humor and offers her first solo show.
This “one-month show,” titled “Powder in the Eyes,” will be shown in theaters across La Belle Province next January. The Quebec and Montreal premieres will take place on November 18 and 19, 2024, respectively, according to Encore Spectacle on Thursday.
The self-described “party mistress” whose real name is Alexandre Aussant worked with Vincent Léonard, half of the duo Les Denis Drolet, to stage her stand-up numbers. They are interested in, among other things, hypochondria, the “invasion” of drag, the “clash” between Mona and her generation, and non-gender-specific pronouns.

“I could have called this show Stallion in Heels or Between Matante and Baton Rouge. But after I got sober, I realized that you would certainly recognize yourself in my character, who some describe as “flamboyant, sassy and solvent since Big Brother.” Because deep down we know: the sequins, the dresses, the big wigs… they are just window dressing,” Mona de Grenoble said in a press release.
The comedian and drag queen is referring to “Big Brother Celebrities,” a reality show whose third version she won last April and for which she won the audience favorite award.
“Beyond my figure, behind the sweating lady makeup, there is a man… who sweats even more,” added Mona, who says she lives with an “eternal duality between her and Alexandre.”
Powder in the Eyes was produced by Encore Spectacle and written by Virginie Chauvette, LeLouis Courchesne, Olivier Guindon and Mona de Grenoble. The script editing is by Michel Sigouin.
