A 23yearold woman was sentenced to life in prison this Friday 24th in South Korea after stabbing an English teacher in May this year. Jung Yoojung, who says he is a fan of “true crime” works, told police he murdered his wife “out of curiosity.” The information comes from the BBC.
The young woman said she was obsessed with police shows and books of this genre. True crime works, whether books, audiovisual productions or podcasts, are based on real crimes.
The South Korean woman, who wanted to know what it felt like to commit murder, searched for victims on an online tutoring app. According to the BBC, Jung contacted more than 50 people, most of them women, and asked if they were homeschooling.
In May, under the pretext of being the mother of a student, she contacted a 26yearold teacher and arranged a lesson at the teacher’s house. The young woman showed up at her guardian’s house in a uniform she bought online and stabbed the victim more than 100 times after entering the apartment.
Jung Yoojung dismembered the body and took a taxi to dump the remains in a park. She was arrested after the taxi driver informed police about a passenger who had thrown a suitcase full of blood into the woods.
According to police, Jung’s internet search history included several searches about how to kill a person. She performed well on the psychopathy tests carried out as part of the examination.
The young woman confessed to the crime in June and said she was suffering from mental disorders. However, the court rejected his argument because the crime was “carefully planned and carried out and it is difficult to accept his claim of physical and mental disorder.” In her statements to the police, she stated that her interest in murder had been aroused by police programs and television programs.
