Mexico.
A few days ago, the resignation of Lupita Jones as director of Miss Universe Mexico, also known as Mexicana Universal, was confirmed after 30 years at the helm. The earlier model was replaced by Cynthia de la Vega.
It should be noted that there has been speculation about Jones’ departure from competition since October. At the time, it was said that the franchise’s new owners had decided to replace it with the Monterrey franchise.
Amid doubts about the reason for her dismissal, Lupita clarified that she found out about her departure “like everyone else,” that is, through information leaked to the media.
“Officially no. Like you, I found out about it through the media. There was no formal communication, but hey, that’s how they decided to do it. As national directors, we have a contract that must be renewed every year and that expires when a Miss Universe is crowned,” Jones said.
Although she admitted that she didn’t like the “lack of professionalism,” she admitted that her dismissal was “near” because she wasn’t feeling as comfortable lately with the decisions being made in the competition .
“I was no longer compatible with the way things were done at Miss Universe. I already saw it coming. Maybe that’s why I felt very distanced from the brand. You know I’ve gotten my skin in the way on several occasions. I can’t defend something I don’t believe in. There are things I didn’t agree with,” he said.
Finally, she said that she is ready to focus on the suggestions that have been made to her to participate in “other franchises in Mexico” and wished the competition all the best: “The sun rises for everyone.” It works about our country being well represented. I’m very proud. “We are moving forward,” he concluded.
