Ollie Gordon II scored his second touchdown of the second half, rushing in from two yards out, as Oklahoma State cut BYU’s lead to 24-21.

Rashod Owens, who kept the drive going with two big catches, also scored on Alan Bowman’s two-point conversion throw.

Heading into the drive, Gordon surpassed 100 yards rushing for the eighth time of the season and has done so in each of the last nine games. He has 111 yards on 23 carries with two touchdowns.

BYU’s Eddie Heckard made his second interception of the day against Alan Bowman, killing an OSU drive on the Cougar side of the field. OSU’s deficit remains 24-13 at the end of the third quarter.

Bowman is 21 of 34 for 176 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions in three quarters.

Capped by a 2-yard touchdown run from running back Ollie Gordon II, Oklahoma State scored its first touchdown of the game early in the third quarter.

BYU now leads 24-13. OSU’s defense forced a punt on BYU’s first possession of the first half and used the ensuing touchdown to cut the lead to 18 points. Gordon now has 79 yards on 16 carries.

Here’s a look at the first half stats:

After BYU perfectly executed a fake punt, it moved into OSU territory for a 24-6 lead with 37 seconds left before halftime.

It appeared as if Oklahoma State was going to force a punt, but BYU’s Ryna Rehkow threw to tight end Tyler Batty for a 36-yard gain, with the tackle made by punt returner Brennan Presley.

OSU couldn’t do anything on the ensuing possession and trailed by 18 points.

BYU will get the ball to start the second half.

– Scott Wright

A quick handoff to receiver Keelan Marion set up an 11-yard touchdown run, giving BYU a 21-6 lead.

That’s 21 straight points for BYU after falling behind 6-0.

BYU had reached third-and-long in its own territory but got two long pass plays to keep the drive alive.

– Scott Wright

OSU quarterback Alan Bowman and receiver Jaden Bray disagreed as Bowman fired a pass to his right, but Bray kept running when the ball was intercepted behind him.

BYU defensive back Eddie Heckard easily intercepted the pass and ran 13 yards for a touchdown, giving the Cougars a 14-6 lead early in the second quarter.

– Scott Wright

After OSU missed third-and-1 at the 49-yard line, there was a miscommunication in the backfield that led to a botched play and a turnover on downs with BYU leading 7-6.

OSU quarterback Alan Bowman turned left and stuck the ball out for a possible handoff, but running back Ollie Gordon II ran to Bowman’s right. It was unclear which player was in the wrong, but Bowman had to throw the ball away and give it to BYU at midfield.

– Scott Wright

BYU quarterback Jeff Retzlaff’s 2-yard touchdown run put the Cougars on the field and in the lead with a 7-6 lead over Oklahoma State at 1:24 of the first quarter.

The nine-play, 73-yard drive consisted primarily of running plays aided by poor tackling by the OSU defense.

– Scott Wright

Oklahoma State safety Trey Rucker recovered a BYU fumble and the Cowboy offense turned it into a 20-yard field goal for a 6-0 lead at 8:48 of the first quarter.

BYU mishandled an option pitch and Rucker dumped the ball at the BYU 19-yard line.

OSU threw a pass and then had Ollie Gordon II run it four times in a row, with the drive stalling at the 3. Hale made his second field goal of the day and his 26th of the season. It is two fewer than the OSU record for field goals made in a season, held by Quinn Sharp.

– Scott Wright

Oklahoma State got off to a fast start but stalled just outside the red zone on its first drive and took a 3-0 lead over BYU on a 40-yard field goal by Alex Hale.

Ollie Gordon II had two carries for 29 yards and Brennan Presley had two receptions for 19 yards, but the Cowboys couldn’t convert a third-and-short from just outside the 20-yard line.

– Scott Wright

Oklahoma State will continue to be weak at running back, but otherwise the team’s health is good heading into late November.

Backup running back Elijah Collins will be out for the third straight game with an ankle injury, OSU radio announcer Dave Hunziker reported during the pregame show.

Hunziker reported that receiver Jaden Bray, who played minimally on the bench last week, is “closer to 100%” as he recovers from an undisclosed injury that sidelined him for three games. Bray returned last week and caught a touchdown pass, playing in eight snaps.

Behind starter Ollie Gordon II, the Cowboys have speedster Jaden Nixon and true freshman Sesi Vailahi, who appeared in one game this season.
