Zakk Wylde, guitarist of Ozzy Osbourne and frontman of Black Label Society, among others, who is currently part of the modern line-up of Pantera, has stated that he does not rule out continuing to play full-time with the famous metal band during a recent public event .
During a recent Rock ‘N’ Roll Fantasy Camp event in Los Angeles, California, Wylde was asked if he planned to work at Pantera full-time.
In the video available below, you can hear his answer: “Yes. I told the boys [le chanteur Phil Anselmo et le bassiste Rex Brown] that I was willing to do it…as long as they wanted to keep going. I don’t understand why anyone would want to end it because all we do is go on stage and pay tribute to him [frères Abbott]. I think it’s a nice thing and it allows me to spend time with my friends.”
A few days ago, on the latest episode of The Metallica Report podcast, Anselmo said he was deeply convinced that the Abbott brothers would have wanted Pantera to continue.
He said: “The only thing I can say is that I know for a fact that Vince and Dime want us to do this. There is no doubt. They want the Pantera brand and its legacy to continue. And I don’t know what you believe, but sometimes you want to believe that these two are looking down on us and congratulating us.”
Since late 2022, the revamped Pantera line-up – consisting of surviving band members Anselmo and Brown as well as Wylde and drummer Charlie Benante (Anthrax) – has headlined several major festivals in North and South America and Europe and has also organized some of its own headliners- Concerts. They also opened for Metallica during the M72 tour.
