Lavazza presented its new calendar focusing on Africa at Vienna’s Museumsquartier. Human rights activist and witness Waris Dirie attended the presentation and addressed the guests with a strong message.

Coffee company Lavazza sends viewers on a journey through contemporary African photography with its new 2024 “More than us” calendar. At the calendar presentation in the Oval Room of the Museum Quarter, guests were able to marvel at the works here in Austria for the first time. Gregor Peham, Lavazza country manager Austria and Switzerland, led the evening and invited Susanne Wegen, general manager Lavazza AT/DE and regional director DACH Poland, to the podium for a discussion where the artists and themes were introduced. Singer Samira stood out musically.

“Act instead of talk”

The Lavazza 2024 Calendar is a collaborative project between African photographers Thandiwe Muriu from Kenya, Daniel Obasi from Nigeria and Aart Verrips from South Africa. The setting for the artistic project is Africa, with the origin of the coffee bean in the Kafa region, in Ethiopia, in addition to several sustainability initiatives supported by Fondazione Giuseppe and Pericle Lavazza. “Action is the key to making a difference in this world together. Stop talking, let’s do something!”, is the appeal of the model, human rights activist and witness of the Waris Dirie calendar. She was seen on stage at the performance and urged people to actively shape the world.
