Miami Man Wins $1 Million Using Scratch Cards

A Miami man won a $1 million prize playing the $20 scratch-off game GOLD RUSH LIMITED.

José Ramírez, 59, claimed his winnings at the lottery’s Miami District Office and elected to receive his winnings as a one-time lump sum payment of $795,000, the Florida Lottery said in a statement.

Ramirez purchased his winning ticket at the Circle K, 24996 Overseas Highway in Summerland Key.

The retailer receives an additional $2,000 commission for selling the winning scratch card.

The $20 scratch game GOLD RUSH LIMITED launched in September 2021 and offers 32 top prizes worth $5 million and 100 prizes worth $1 million.

Additionally, more than 33,000 prizes ranging from $1,000 to $100,000 are included. The overall odds of winning the game are 1 in 2.65.

Scratch-off games are an important part of the Lottery’s gaming portfolio, accounting for approximately 72 percent of ticket sales in the 2022-2023 fiscal year.

Since their inception, scratch games have generated more than $18.39 billion for the Education Improvement Trust Fund (EETF).

Last week, Mario Torres, 47, of Boynton Beach, won the same amount of money with the same scratch game.

Torres also elected to receive his winnings in a lump sum payment of $795,000.
