Paul McCartney: Surprise show at Clube do Choro delights fans

Paul McCartney welcomed the people of Brasilia this Tuesday (November 28th) with an intimate show at Clube do Choro. What seemed impossible became reality: around 4 p.m., the exBeatle arrived at the venue to begin preparations for the performance, which was scheduled to begin two hours later.

The gift for Brasília came two days before the debut show of the Got Back tour in Brazil, on Thursday (November 30th), at the BRB Mané Garrincha Arena. The show was an invitation to a part of the audience who bought tickets for the artist’s performance in the city.

The performance started promptly at 6 p.m. and tickets sold out quickly, starting at R$200. The artist posted pictures of the start of the performance on his social networks. In the excerpt the singer plays “A hard day’s night”

The use of phones was prohibited at the event for just over 300 people. “He performed several Beatles hits, it was very emotional. There was no pyrotechnics or anything like that, just him with that perfect voice and the band were all extremely excited,” commented Melina Coelho. “It was also very different not being able to use a phone, everyone was literally enjoying the show,” the fan added. “He sang all the classics, including the new ones. Everything was perfect!”

“It was completely different that no one was filming in front of me. It’s been a long time since I experienced something like this. The show was wonderful,” said Lucas Bernardo, who said he was even more excited about Thursday’s show (11/30).

Clube do Choro is one of the city’s most traditional music venues and was founded in 1977. The venue is a building designed by Oscar Niemeyer together with the Escola de Choro Raphael Rabello. The space was listed as an intangible heritage of the Federal District in 2008.

After the shows in Brasília, Paul McCartney will continue his tour in Belo Horizonte (December 3rd and 4th, at the Arena MRV), in São Paulo (December 7th, 9th and 10th, at Allianz Parque), in Curitiba (December 13th) continue , at the Couto Pereira Stadium); and in Rio (December 16th, in Maracana).
