Nearly a hundred firefighters from the Quebec Fire Protection Service (SPCIQ) were mobilized to fight the two fires. The police are trying to find out whether there could be a connection between them.
The first fire broke out shortly after 1 a.m. in a two-story commercial and industrial building at 2nd Avenue and 2nd Street near the Saint-Charles River in Limoilou.

The part of the building affected by the flames contained rental rooms for musicians, and four people were taken into care by the Red Cross.
Less than 15 minutes later, firefighters received a report of another fire at a clothing screen printing plant on Rivard Street in the Vanier Sector.
The 40 firefighters dispatched to the scene managed to control the flames, which caused damage to the roof of the commercial building.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the two fires, which may have been intentional, according to the SPCIQ, which did not say whether a burned item was found at the scene.
The investigation has been assigned to SPVQ investigators to determine the cause of these two suspicious fires, it said.
