Search the Scriptures
The LORD went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to show them the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could walk day and night.
Exodus 13.21
I happened to be going through a moral desert where I was completely lost and even imagined the worst. When I reached the peak of my psychological decline, a light shone in my heart and the presence of God showed me the way out.
“You show me the way of life; great joys are before you, eternal happiness at your right hand” (Psalm 16:11).
You may be crossing a desert and no longer have the strength to move forward. You may even have the distinct impression that there is no way out. Don’t despair! There is a marker, a spiritual beacon that God has placed before you to enable you to get out of this situation that overwhelms you and seems endless. “Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12).
Without a doubt, and as with the people of Israel, the presence of God will lead you in the right direction. Didn’t Jesus say, “I am the way” (John 14:6)?
Listen to the voice of God
Are you going through a difficult time and have a strong feeling that there is no way out of your situation? Take the time to listen to what God wants to say to you about this.
Praying is easy. Talk to God like you would your closest friend. You can dare to say to Him, “Lord, I feel like I’m lost in the middle of the desert. I no longer know where I come from or where I’m going. I urgently need your presence. Help, Lord, come and show me the way, as you did to the Hebrew people in the desert.
Praise God
You may find it difficult to get into worship today. God does not condemn you, he is always near you, even when you don’t feel it and doubt it. So if you can’t sing to him, reread some Psalms and let him calm you.
Take action today
So how do you plan to apply what God has told you? You may find it difficult to think about an action today. Just try to stop saying your situation is hopeless. Who knows ? This could open a door to the Lord of Miracles!
Honor the Lord
Our journey for this day ends. Let us pray together to honor our God.
“Thank you, Lord, your word lights my path, even in the fog. Yours be the kingdom, the power and the glory, Amen!”
