Shannen Doherty is “open” to love again after sharing a difficult update about her eight-year battle with cancer.

The 52-year-old actress, who revealed that her stage 4 breast cancer has now spread to her bones, told People on Wednesday that she’s eager to date again.

“Three weeks ago I wasn’t ready at all,” she admitted, but then “something happened.”[ed].’

“There’s always a trigger, just a moment you have, someone says something to you, your ex says something to you and you’re like, ‘Okay, yeah, I’m fine. I’m fine.” “I have a degree and can carry on in a really healthy way,” she continued.

Although she’s looking for love again, Doherty wasn’t sure if she wanted a safe relationship with someone she’d known for a long time or if she was looking for something new and exciting.

“I have a best friend, a male best friend, who we joke with that we’re married,” she continued, seemingly referring to her boyfriend Chris Cortazzo, a real estate agent with whom she has posed several times on Instagram.

“I don’t know if it’s that or if it’s because you stumble upon someone and just feel an instant connection. “I’m open, and I wasn’t [before]’ she added.

Despite her ongoing health issues, the Heathers actress was optimistic about finding someone suitable for her.

“I don’t think I’ll be single forever.” “I need to love myself and really come to terms with the past before I can move on, and now I’m pretty sure I’ll meet someone – hopefully soon,” she said.

Shannen’s plan comes after she separated from her husband Kurt Iswarienko in January and filed for divorce in April this year, citing “irreconcilable differences.”

Doherty added that not only is it a relationship she’s open to again, but it also made her think about motherhood again.

“I’m waiting, but in the meantime I have my brother’s seven children and my best friend’s children, who I kind of consider my children,” she added.

Doherty was also open about struggling with depression while battling cancer, but still managed to remain optimistic.

“Things weren’t exactly easy or smooth. They’ve been really challenging at times and it’s hard to suddenly be single at 50 with stage 4 cancer. “That’s a difficult question,” she shared. “And that was super depressing for a while, but eventually things turn around.”

Now she’s looking forward to seeing what’s around the corner.

“I didn’t want to rush into anything and sort everything out in my head because then I’m no good for another person at that point,” she said, adding, “Now I’m ready.”

Shannen explained that she underwent her first radiation therapy on January 12 and that despite having an “amazing” medical team, she was scared.

Her post included a heartbreaking clip of her crying as she received cancer treatment at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

“12. January 2023,” Shannen began. “On January 5, my CT scan showed Mets in my brain.”

She then referred to a video clip released on Monday that showed her undergoing an MRI scan.

The star explained that this is part of the “process of adjusting to the mask you wear while your brain is being irradiated.”

In the clip, she can be seen lying down while doctors place a blue mold on her face. They made her bite to make sure the bite stuck to her mouth and chin.

Shannen began to cry as they held the edges of the mask and secured it to a board behind her head before putting her in the machine.

The actress continued on Tuesday: “The first round of radiation took place on January 12th. ‘My fear is obvious.’

Radiation treatment uses “beams of energy to destroy cancer cells” and can “target all or part of the brain, depending on a person’s diagnosis,” according to NYU Langone Health.

Shannen filed for divorce from her husband Kurt Iswarienko, 49, in April after eleven years of marriage.

Official divorce documents obtained by TMZ revealed that the couple had been separated since January.
