Surprise at the Jets: Aaron Rodgers is back in training

New York Jets fans had some very good news to look forward to on Wednesday, as the big addition of off-season quarterback Aaron Rodgers was back in training with his team.

In fact, the team’s head coach, Robert Saleh, announced at a press conference that his club would open Rodgers’ 21-day training window. So that means he will be on the Jets’ roster during this period, because if not, he will no longer be eligible to play this season.

This news comes as a surprise to many, as the main prospect remained fairly unclear about a possible return to play on “The Pat McAfee Show” podcast on Tuesday.

“It was always the question: First, am I healthy?” he said. Are we alive then? Are we there? Are we playing well enough to be successful? Can I step in, protect myself and play at the level I can play at? But health comes first and we’ll see whether we’re there for the playoffs.”

As a reminder, Rodgers was injured in his first game with the Jets. He suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon, which left him no choice but to undergo surgery.

Without the 39-year-old, the Jets went 4-7 this season.
