Woman reveals she is permanently blind after a magpie “punches a hole in her eye” as she reacts to a video of an influencer being attacked by the bird

An Australian woman has recalled how she became permanently blind after being stung in the eye by a magpie.

The woman named Kristy recounted the moment on TikTok when she reacted to a video of influencer Sarah Jade being attacked by the bird.

“A magpie put my eye out… My right eye was actually gouged out by a magpie.” “I know it sounds too crazy to really believe,” she began.

“It was 26 years ago when I was five and I am permanently blind in my right eye, but I was lucky enough to keep my eye.”

Kristy said she was picking flowers in her backyard when a magpie ambushed her and attacked her eye.

“I was out picking little daisies in my garden when my sister called out to me and said, “Watch out for a magpie swooping down on you from behind you.”

“I actually turned around and the magpie then poked me in the eye.”

Kristy said it was like “popping an egg yolk” as the magpie “bored a hole all the way to the back of my eye with its beak.”

The story comes after 24-year-old Sarah shared frightening footage of herself being attacked by a magpie during her ‘Hot Girl Walk’.

In the footage, the influencer could be seen cowering in fear after the magpie attacked her eye, with its beak partially lodged in her eye socket.

“That would be one of the most traumatic things that could happen to me.” Firstly, I’m afraid of birds. Secondly, it literally hit me in the eye,” she told viewers.

“I actually didn’t know it got into my eye. I thought it was just going to hit me in the side of the face until I watched the video again. I’m traumatized. I feel sick.’

During these breeding months, magpies defend their nests and chicks as well as the territory surrounding them.

A number of viewers disputed that the bird was a magpie, instead identifying it as a magpie-lark, which is not known to attack humans.

Sarah later showed off her sore eye and said she was worried about possible infection from the incident.
