Referee Kyle Rehma didn’t hesitate to tell Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang to shut up during Tuesday night’s matchup against the Predators in Nashville.
In the second period, the referee gave Pens defenseman Marcus Pettersson a holding penalty. While giving his statement to the crowd and with his microphone open, Rehma responded to a comment Letang made to him. The Quebecer clearly disagreed with the decision.
“Do you want to join in?” the referee asked the Penguins veteran.
The warning appeared to have had an effect on Letang, who remained calm afterwards.
The Penguins also lost this duel in overtime. Filip Forsberg decided the debate in extra time. The winning team’s other goalscorer was Michael McCarron, who scored two goals in regular time. The losers’ response came from the thugs of Bryan Rust and Evgeni Malkin.
