Corey Perry could appeal his case

After his contract was terminated by the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday, Corey Perry has 60 days to appeal the decision, but that would not allow him to play for the team again.

Sportsnet reporter Elliotte Friedman reported Thursday that the 38-year-old veteran has about two months to file a complaint. If the National Hockey League Players Association decides to get involved and he wins, Perry could receive his entire $4 million salary slated for the 2023-2024 season.

Since his contract with the Hawks was terminated after a quarter of the season, the forward would lose an amount of $1,489,583, according to the specialized website CapFriendly. Since he was not claimed by any other National League team, he became an unrestricted free agent.

As far as a return to the Blackhawks goes, the door would indeed be closed. During his 19-season career, he also played for the Anaheim Ducks, Dallas Stars, Montreal Canadiens and Tampa Bay Lightning.

Perry has been away from team activities for about a week. Daily Faceoff reporter Frank Seravalli claimed that an incident involving alcohol and staff at the organization occurred on November 21st. General manager Kyle Davidson described the incident as “workplace-related.”
