A homeless man was brutally beaten by several people late Thursday morning at a location in Montreal’s Hochelaga-Maisonneuve district that is known to attract sexually depraved people.
The violent attack occurred around 11 a.m., a stone’s throw from a municipal garage, on the corner of Sainte-Catherine Est and Bercy streets.
The victim, who is believed to be homeless, was under a viaduct at the time, which looked like an open landfill due to the huge amount of debris scattered on the ground there.

Authorities say the man was severely beaten with a “blunt object” for an unknown reason. Several people are said to have been involved in the beating.
The victim, whose age was not provided, suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized. When the man was found by emergency services, he was conscious but bleeding profusely.

The suspects fled before police arrived and have still not been arrested.
According to our information, the crime scene has been the scene of several crimes of a sexual nature in recent years.
