One of the main routes for military supplies was sabotaged or destroyed Russia And China. The Ukrainian secret service pulls off a significant “coup”: “The most important railway connection between the Soviet Union and China – reports Newsweek – remained paralyzed after the Ukrainian security services blew up a tunnel in the Russian Republic of Buryatia.” The explosions in the Severomuysky tunnel were planned The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) “the only serious route of railway communication between the Russian Federation and China was paralyzed,” RBC-Ukraine News reported on Thursday, citing sources familiar with the incident.
The Severomuysky Tunnel is a railway link on the Baikal-Amur Main Line (BAM) in northwestern Buryatia. The Soviet-built BAM is an important transit railway that runs through Siberia and is used to deliver goods to Asia. It is one of the longest rail networks in the world, stretching approximately 4,300 kilometers, almost 2,700 miles. Russian President Vladimir Putin is pushing to modernize the country’s railways, including BAM, precisely to “manage the rapid increase in freight traffic from China to Europe and reduce transport times between ports in Russia’s Far East and the country’s western border.” .

An RBC-Ukraine source said Russia used the route for military supplies. The Russian-language Telegram channel Baza, which is linked to Russian security services, reported that a fuel tank while passing through the tunnel in Buryatia caught fire in the early hours of Thursday. “It was probably sabotage,” the station reported Thursday, adding that there were no injuries. Here too, a report from Newsweek says: “It is not yet known what caused the fire.” Police and FSB officers are on site. In addition, police and special services officers are on duty at the train parking lots,” said Baza. The FSB is Russia’s main state security agency and the principal successor to the Soviet-era KGB.
The Ukrainian publication Ukrainska Pravda also confirmed that the tunnel was blown up by the SBU. “While the freight train was traveling, four explosive devices exploded. Now the FSB is working on the ground and the railway workers are trying in vain to downplay the consequences of the SBU’s special operation,” a source told Ukrainska Pravda.
The Ukrainska Pravda source also said that the BAM is the only major railway link between Russia and China and is used to transport military supplies. And currently this route, which Russia uses mainly for military supplies, is paralyzed.
