Patricia Bullrich will become Argentina’s new Minister of Security, as confirmed this Friday (1) by Presidentelect Javier Milei.
With her confirmation, she returns to the ministry that she commanded and made famous during the government of former President Mauricio Macri between 2015 and 2019.
During the election campaign in Argentina, Patricia Bullrich became known as the “law and order candidate” because she defended ideas such as increasing penalties for minors who commit crimes and changing the age at which people are considered criminal.
Bullrich criticized Milei throughout the campaign, even calling his ideas “dangerous and bad.” However, in an interview this Wednesday (22), she explained that she wanted to prevent the “danger of Kirchnerism”, referring to Sergio Massa, an ally of former presidents Nestor and Cristina Kirchner.
After coming third in the first round, Milei supported her in the second round.
In the second round, Bullrich quickly reiterated his support for Milei. She said at the time that she supported “change” represented by the ultraright Milei party, with which she had heated arguments during the presidential campaign.
