Santo Domingo, December 1 (Prensa Latina) The Institute of Dominicans Abroad (Index) announced today the winners of the short film competition “Huellas de mi Quisqueya,” in which nationals living abroad shared their experiences of life outside their home country.
During the competition sponsored by Banco BHD with the support of the General Directorate of Cinema (Dgcine) and the Palacio del Cine, it was announced that first place went to the short film “The True American Dream”, presented by Rita Damirón. Isabela Bretón and Gabriel Acevedo, residents of the United States.
Second place went to Jeure Taveras, who also lives in the USA, with the short film “Take Me Too” and third place went to César Almonte, who lives in Japan, with the short film “The Player”.
Aniana María Domínguez received a special mention for her work “Olas de mi Quisqueya”; Virginia del Sol Rodríguez, with “The Dominican Guide to Survival in England”; and Julio Antonio Mejía with “Dominicans in Holland.”
A press release indicates that this competition aimed to contribute to strengthening the national identity of Dominican communities abroad and to connect them even more closely with their country of origin; To promote national culture and encourage the creation of audiovisual media with the aspects that these people remember most about their country.
The awards ceremony was presided over by Ambassador Carlos de la Mota, Vice Minister for Dominican Communities Abroad and Executive Director of the Index, who pointed out that in this edition we have experienced “stories that overcome distances, cross oceans to reach the hearts of the “To reach people.” those who long for the shores, the colors and the sounds of our beloved Quisqueya.
“This competition not only celebrates cinematic creativity, but also strengthens the bonds that bind us to a community located in multiple countries but always connected,” said Vice Minister De la Mota.
