Trump mocks the DeSantis-Newsom ‘Battle of Loserville’ debate, claiming the Florida governor used a stool to look taller – while a new report claims staffers in Ron’s campaign think it it was a “dumpster fire”

Former President Donald Trump mocked Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ debate against California Gov. Gavin Newsom, calling it the “Battle of Loserville” as the governor’s 2024 campaign is running out of steam, according to DeSantisworld sources.

After midnight, Trump shared a video on Truth Social Friday titled “Battle of Loserville” in which host Sean Hannity asked DeSantis, “Have you ever betrayed the greatest president who ever lived, President Donald J. Trump?”

Trump has long teased that DeSantis should not run against him for the 2024 nomination because the then-president supported the up-and-coming Florida governor over another Republican in the 2018 GOP gubernatorial primary.

In the fake clip, Hannity also asks DeSantis, “Are you a small, insecure little man who likes to wear jacks in his cowboy boots?” Yes or no, please answer,” while the fake Newsom criticizes the Florida governor for bringing a step stool.

The 55-second clip ends with DeSantis shrinking and then disappearing from the stage.

In fact, the Washington Post reported Friday on the problems plaguing DeSantis’ presidential campaign.

During Thursday night’s debate with Newsom, the California governor declared that neither he nor DeSantis would be “our party’s nominee in 2024.”

At one point, Newsom told DeSantis, “You’re down by 41 points in your home state.”

Poor polls aside, DeSantis’ main rival for second place is the former UN ambassador. Nikki Haley received the endorsement of the Koch Network this week, a group that previously approached the Florida governor.

Senior election officials say their chances in the upcoming primary, which begins Jan. 15 with the Iowa caucuses, are bleak.

“People are increasingly thinking it’s over,” a person close to DeSantis told The Post. “It’s a dumpster fire.”

In recent weeks, a clash between DeSantis’ campaign and his allied super PAC, Never Back Down, has become public.

On November 21, NBC News reported that Jeff Roe, a longtime adviser to the PAC, got into a heated argument with DeSantis confidant Scott Wagner.

“You’ve got a stick up your ass, Scott,” Roe reportedly said.

Wagner responded by saying, “Come over and get it!”

And then Never Back Down CEO Chris Jankowski left the group last week.

On Friday, Nevada’s failed U.S. Senate candidate Adam Laxalt, a DeSantis friend and chairman, resigned, the New York Times reported.

Meanwhile, DeSantis’ allies have set up another PAC to help their man: Fight Right.

This PAC ran an ad against Haley, accusing her of entering politics because she was inspired by a statement made by Democrat Hillary Clinton.

FactCheck.org called the ad misleading because the videos were edited to omit Haley’s statement that she disagreed with Clinton on “something” and “a lot.”

The move led to further internal conflict with Ken Cuccinelli, a Never Back Down board member, who called the attacks against Haley “extremely offensive” and demanded that his comments be kept in the board’s records, NBC and The Post reported.

On Friday, Trump’s allies highlighted the discord.

“For a group called Never Back Down, it really seems like everyone is backing down,” Taylor Budowich, the CEO of the Trump-aligned PAC Make America Great Again Inc., said in a statement.

But Never Back Down communications director Erin Perrine told the Post to prepare for a DeSantis upset in Iowa on caucus night, where Trump currently leads by nearly 30 points.

“The Governor has received the support of Iowa’s popular Governor Kim Reynolds, evangelical leaders like Bob Vander Plaats will reach all 99 counties across the state, and have our historic and unprecedented caucus operation and grassroots efforts behind them to win on caucus night. “Perrine told the newspaper.

“Instead of rehashing the advisory class’s talking points, The Post should get back to reporting,” she also said.
