The Northern Odyssey, an adventure for all snowmobilers

Northern New Brunswick is undoubtedly a destination of choice for snowmobilers looking for excellent trail conditions and world-class services to enrich their adventures.

To help people discover this corner of the country, four regions have come together to create the Northern Odyssey.

“It is a grouping of four regions, namely Edmundston, Chaleur, Restigouche and the Acadian Peninsula. They came together to showcase all the winter tourist attractions in northern New Brunswick,” said Odyssey of White Gold Festival spokesperson Marilyn Lavallée.

“This partnership has existed for over 20 years. Over the years, the group has decided to go beyond just winter advertising. We have come to support each other in promoting a four-season destination. »

The expert explains that these regions can go further by combining their efforts.

“We have many landscapes in common and more. I’m sure we individually weren’t able to keep visitors for an entire stay. If we come together, we can all reap the benefits and keep the fans with us for several days. »

There are more than 3,500 kilometers of developed hiking trails throughout the grouping sector. They offer you ideal snow conditions. To give you an idea: More than 300 centimeters of snow falls on Sugarloaf Mountain every year.

“We have the mountains, the sea and more. Being in the north, we certainly have more snow than anywhere else. We expect numerous snowmobilers. We can provide them with easy access to accommodation, food and more. »

A NEW FESTIVAL

This winter, February 21-25, you can take part in the new White Gold Odyssey Festival, where you can visit five cities in northern New Brunswick.

This will be the opportunity to ride more than 1000 kilometers on the trails and enjoy a VIP experience.

“The number of registrations is limited to 200 snowmobilers,” explains Marilyn Lavallée. This means there are many snowmobilers on the trails at the same time. To avoid all these beautiful people following each other, we divided the group into two parts.

“Course A, consisting of 100 snowmobilers, starts in Edmundston and heads towards Campbellton, Bathurst and Tracadie. Group B will do the opposite by starting in Tracadie and finishing in Edmundston via Bathurst and Campbellton. This will also allow us to welcome the 100 snowmobilers in each caravan throughout the region. »

For the event, organizers want snowmobilers to be viewed and treated as respected visitors.

“We really want the snowmobilers who take part in our festival to have a holistic experience in the region and end each evening with a VIP evening,” said the spokesman.

“You will experience themed evenings with tastings of local products, music with locals and the raffle of prizes worth over $10,000.” The only requirement is attendance on the evenings to take part in the raffles. »

When you register for the festival, you will automatically receive your New Brunswick Trails Annual Pass, which will allow you to return throughout the winter. There are also four themed evenings, a souvenir sweater and hat, and prizes to be won.

“The registration period ends on January 15th. There is a special pre-sale price, which is $445 before December 15th and $585 afterward. People need to take care of their homes. For meals there is only lunch, which is not included in the price. »

Before leaving us, the specialist wanted to remind us that there will be no mandatory route, just suggested routes with five must-sees. She knows very well that snowmobilers love their freedom. This way you can choose the type of day you want to experience.
