Defenseman Tyson Barrie’s stay with the Nashville Predators appears to be coming to an end as he was left out of Saturday’s matchup against the New York Rangers.
According to Sportsnet journalist Elliotte Friedman, the former Toronto Maple Leafs fullback’s agent was actually given permission to speak to other National Hockey League (NHL) teams to gauge possible interest in his client.

As a reminder, Barrie was traded to the Tennessee club on February 28th in the trade that sent defenseman Mattias Ekholm to the Edmonton Oilers.
The latter is currently in the final year of his three-season contract, which pays him $4.5 million annually. This agreement was signed with the Alberta organization in the summer of 2021.
The 32-year-old has collected nine assists in 22 games this season. Last year he scored 13 goals and 42 assists for 55 points with the Oilers and Predators.
Since the 2011-2012 season, Barrie has turned on the red light 108 times, recording 391 assists for 499 points in 790 NHL games with the Colorado Avalanche, Maple Leafs, Oilers and Predators.
