The Blackhawks lose despite a goal from Bedard

The Chicago Blackhawks suffered their second straight loss on Saturday with a 3-1 loss to the Jets in Winnipeg.

Morgan Barron, the brother of Montreal Canadiens defenseman Justin, scored the winning goal with 13:37 left in the second period. He beat Blackhawks goaltender Arvid Soderblom with a quick wrist shot.

The game started well for the Hawks, who scored the first goal of the game thanks to young prodigy Connor Bedard. The top pick in the last National Hockey League draft took advantage of a pass from Philipp Kurashev that deflected off Declan Chisholm’s skate to put the puck into Connor Hellebuyck’s net.

Thanks to this goal, the number 98 scored a point away from home for the eighth time in a row. Only Nathan MacKinnon did better at the same age with 16 consecutive games.

Mark Scheifele equalized on a power play in the middle of the first third. In the third period, Cole Perfetti ended any hope of a comeback for Chicago by flashing the red light for the ninth time this season.

Quebec native Anthony Beauvilier played his first game with the Blackhawks since completing a trade with the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday. He was inserted into the team’s front line right alongside Bedard and Kurashev. The Sorel-Tracy native finished his afternoon of work with two shots on goal in 16:55 of time on the ice.

The Jets host the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday. The Blackhawks will be back in action on Sunday against the Minnesota Wild.
