Four people die in knife attack in New York

Four people, including two children, were killed and three others injured in a knife attack in the borough of Queens in New York, USA.

Police were called in the early hours of this Sunday (March 12) and found the victims in a house set on fire.

The male suspect stabbed two police officers before being shot by one of the injured officers.

The suspect was taken to the hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival at the emergency room.

At a press conference at Jamaica Hospital in New York, police confirmed that they received a call at 5:10 a.m. local time (7:10 a.m. Brazil time) when a “young woman stated that her cousin was killing family members.”

Two police officers were dispatched to the scene where they saw a man leaving with a suitcase.

When officers attempted to speak with the man, he pulled out a knife and stabbed one officer in the neck and chest and the second officer in the head.

One of the officers managed to pull out a gun and shoot the suspect.

When additional officers were dispatched to the scene, they found an 11yearold girl outside the home. She was taken to hospital but died from her injuries.

After the New York City Fire Department arrived on scene to fight the fire, crews found the bodies of three other people in the home: a 12yearold boy, a 44yearold woman and a man at home. 30 years.

A 61yearold woman was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with multiple stab wounds to her body.

The police assume that all victims died as a result of the stab wounds. A kitchen knife was recovered at the scene of the accident.

The New York Police Department identified the suspect as Courtney Gordon. He was 39 years old and had previously been arrested for domestic violence.

He was visiting family at the time of the attack.

Police said the investigation was ongoing, but the person who called police had just given a statement at a police station.
