The community of Grand Falls, New Brunswick is often recognized as a crossroads by snowmobilers. From now on you have to call it a leading snowmobile destination with all the projects that the industry has carried out.
“For many snowmobilers, we are at the center of a star that opens the door to other destinations,” explains Le Moignan, director of the economic development and marketing department of the regional municipality of Grand Falls, France.
“From here, snowmobilers can set off to other destinations. However, if they take the time to stop by, they will quickly realize that we are a snowmobile destination. You will discover that we have a lot to offer you. »
Grand Falls is a border community with the United States.
“Since we are very close to the United States, several routes take snowmobilers across the border and vice versa. But we are also able to offer snowmobilers the opportunity to stay with us and experience daisy chain tours, meaning they can come back and stay overnight at one of our establishments each evening during their stay.
“Fans can go to Edmundston or Mount Carleton, which is in the provincial park. You can also head towards Saint-Quentin or south to the Plaster Rock region, where the famous Christmas Mountains are located. »

THE CITY CENTER

“I think one of the points in our favor is certainly that the snowmobile route goes right through downtown. This allows snowmobilers a forest perspective, but also a rural, urban side.
“You will be able to stop at various good addresses in the city, if you can put it that way. You will enjoy the view of our famous Broadway Boulevard at the end of the city without forgetting the opportunity to admire our famous waterfalls. On our territory we have four small relays where people can take the opportunity to rest and light the fire lit by the first snowmobiler who passes by in the morning. »
The goal of all these efforts is to make Grand Falls a real tourist destination.
“We work with local snowmobile associations to develop our community as a tourist destination and move it away from its image as a transitional region,” says the director. We want to become a stop.
“Someone can come to us by car, with their snowmobile on a trailer, and stay in one of our quality accommodations close to the slopes. From the property, snowmobilers can explore various routes and visit various places in our area. They can take day or afternoon tours, depending on what they want. »

Also take the time to walk along the trail and admire the second longest trestle bridge in Canada at 1.2 km, part of the Canadian National.
“It is very impressive to see. As the train passes by during our stay, we have the impression that the train is flying over the Little Salmon River. »
