The final College Football Playoff rankings are out, and while there were no shockers in the Big Ten, there was definitely a shocker.

The Michigan Wolverines face the Alabama Crimson Tide in the College Football Playoff semifinals, while Washington plays Texas. Michigan was one of two teams that knew their fate to some degree. The only question was whether it would be #1 or #2.

The Wolverines came in at No. 1, Washington at No. 2 and Florida State at No. 5, while Georgia came in at No. 6. JJ McCarthy and Michigan look to win a semifinal game for the first time. after losing the last two seasons. That will be a tall order against an Alabama team that is coming off a huge win against Georgia, but it will be the first time Michigan enters the CFP as the No. 1 team in the country.

With a decisive win over Ohio State and a dominant whistle-to-whistle victory against Iowa, Michigan proved its mettle. This needs to happen again against one of the hottest teams in the country. After the Wolverines, Ohio State travels to Dallas to play Missouri in the Cotton Bowl and Penn State has Ole Miss in the Peach Bowl.
