Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist opened up about their decision to exchange wedding vows next January in a new interview with People published Friday.
The 72-year-old reality TV star and his 70-year-old fiancée got engaged during the Golden Bachelor finale, which aired last Thursday.
The media representative, who proposed with a $40,000 ring, and his future wife subsequently announced they would be tying the knot during a live and televised wedding ceremony on January 4th.
Turner began the interview by explaining why he wanted to have a wedding ceremony just weeks after his engagement.
“If you’re in your 20s and you put something off for a year, that’s a very small part of your life.” “When you’re 70, the clock ticks faster,” he said.

The retired restaurateur, whose wife Toni died unexpectedly in 2017, then added that he was “100% sure I’ve found the right girl for me.” So it’s like, “Why not?”
Nist went on to talk about her excitement at the prospect of marrying Turner, whom she described as “the man of my dreams.”
She remarked; “It wasn’t our original schedule, but the wedding of our dreams?” Spectacular, incredible, wow!’
The reality TV personality’s fiancée was previously married to a childhood sweetheart named Billy, with whom she tied the knot in an impromptu wedding ceremony in 1972.
Turner then explained that he intended for his fiancée to enjoy the planning process of their upcoming wedding ceremony.
“Since she got the rush job, so to speak, the first time, I wanted her to enjoy all the anticipation and joy… it doesn’t sound like she was being cheated,” he said.
Nist added that she had a feeling her upcoming wedding ceremony was “going to be incredible.”
The reality TV personality went on to express that he and his fiancée’s main concern is each other’s well-being.

Nist then remarked, “While there are serious moments, we laugh so much together.”
Turner’s fiancée ended the interview by saying that while their respective experiences of loss “initially” brought them closer together, they have since learned to focus on their future as a married couple.
“That was the basis on which a connection was formed, but that’s definitely not it.” It’s about how much we care for each other. “It’s really natural,” she said.
