Alleged attacker in Paris claims loyalty to “Islamic State”

The man had already been in prison for four years for preparing an attack and has enormous psychological problems.

The 26-year-old man who stabbed a German tourist and injured two other people in Paris claimed responsibility for the jihadist militia “Islamic State” (IS) in a video. The French anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office said on Sunday night in Paris that it had published it on the online service

The perpetrator’s mother also informed authorities in October that she was concerned about her son’s condition because he was becoming very withdrawn. “However, there were no grounds for criminal prosecution,” said prosecutor Jean-François Ricard.

The perpetrator, who was born in France, comes from a non-religious Iranian family. The prosecutor explained that he converted and turned to jihadist ideology. He has already been in prison for four years for preparing an attack and has enormous psychological problems. (APA/AFP)
