More than 60,000 homes in Quebec were plunged into darkness overnight from Sunday to Monday as poor weather conditions caused power outages on the Hydro-Québec network.
The state-owned company reported in its report shortly after 5 a.m. around 61,454 households without power, most of them in the Estrie and Montérégie regions.
According to the state-owned company’s report, more than 30,000 Hydro-Québec customers in Montérégie were waiting to be reconnected, while 23,270 households in Estrie were in the same situation. In Montreal, the number of breakdowns was 3,370.
In Centre-du-Québec, some 3,868 households were plunged into darkness, while in the Montreal region more than 3,100 Hydro-Québec customers lost their power during the same period.
In the Laurentides and Outaouais regions, Hydro-Québec reports that around 634 and 427 customers, respectively, are still without power overnight, while in Laval and Mauricie the outages have been resolved.
Despite the difficult weather conditions, Hydro-Québec officials were still working Monday morning to resolve the issues associated with the approximately 247 outages in the province that still have not been resolved.
