Two Canadians, a mother and her five-year-old son, died last Thursday after falling from Devil’s Bridge in Antigua in the West Indies.
According to local media Antigua Observer, the Toronto woman and child drowned in an accident on the trip.
Witnesses reportedly told the news outlet that the boy slipped and instinctively grabbed his mother before they both fell into the water. At this point, the father of the family would have gone underground to come to their aid. The latter is said to have been pulled out of the water by passers-by and given him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
It was about 8 a.m. when authorities found the woman’s body, about an hour and 15 minutes after the Antigua and Barbuda Defense Force Coast Guard was notified of the incident. The child was rescued around 9 a.m. after local residents spotted him.
