Zach Wilson reportedly refused to take over as the New York Jets’ starting quarterback for Game 13e week against the Atlanta Falcons.
The Athletic’s website said this on Monday, less than 24 hours after the Big Apple club’s 13-8 defeat.

Wilson took over the Jets’ starting role after Aaron Rodgers was injured in the opening game of the season. The 24-year-old pivot played behind center for the first 10 games of the season but was replaced by Tim Boyle last week against the Miami Dolphins. He was replaced by Trevor Siemian in the second half of the game against the Falcons.
It seems like the Jets would have liked to have Wilson back at the helm before the game began, but the first-round pick (second overall) in the 2021 draft didn’t want that.
In 10 games this year, Wilson has maintained a 3-6 record. He completed 59.2% of the passes he attempted for 1,944 yards and six touchdowns. The BYU Cougard product also recorded seven interceptions.
The Jets (4-8) will look to end a five-game losing streak against the Houston Texans next Sunday at MetLife Stadium.
